Non-destructive testing (NDT) for the inspection of field and fabrication shop welding for construction in accordance with the American Welding Society (AWS). Inspectors are capable of inspections for the following techniques. Welded connections are checked and compared to the applicable codes, specifications and project drawings.
NDT personnel are Certified Welding Inspectors through the American Welding Society and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) for visually inspecting welds.
In addition, personnel have to meet the minimum requirements with regards to training, certification testing, experience and thoroughly familiar with equipment. Inspections can be performed on new construction, or modifications to existing structures.
AWS Codes include:
Technicians are certified Level 2 UT technicians and are able to interpret and evaluate findings with respect to applicable codes, standards and specifications. Tests are performed in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 codes.
Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) – Technicians are certified Level 2 MT technicians and are able to interpret and evaluate tests using a portable yoke and color contrast MT particles. Tests are performed in accordance with AWS D1.1 and ASTM E 709.
Technician will perform tests in accordance with ASTM E 165, Standard Test Method for Liquid Penetrant Examinations, AWS D1.1 & AWS D1.5.
