Concrete Slump Testing By Testing Service Corporation

How Concrete Slump Is Determined?

Our Technicians collect concrete samples as it is coming off of the truck or out of the concrete plant. From there, the techs use a Concrete Slump Cone to perform the slump test. This entails packing the concrete into the slump cone and then taking a measurement of the height of the slump. This is then reported to the client and/or contractors on site to see if it falls within project specifications. If it doesn't, then you'll have the necessary notice to decide what you want to do.

Slump testing is performed in accordance with ASTM C143.

Why is Concrete Slump Quality Control Important?

Concrete slump is important for a variety of reasons. Foremost of which is that you want your slump to fall within your specific project specifications in accordance with the materials and design you're working with.

If it doesn't, that could cause problems down the road that could have easily been avoided by doing simple concrete quality control tests. For example, if the mix has too much water in it, usually do to the concrete contractor trying to make it more workable, we'll be able to tell you that. Then you can take appropriate action before too much time goes by.

Reporting of Results

Slump is reported as one of a number of metrics that we track for you in the field. Air content and Unit Weight among other things will also be reported to you as well as any other observations that our techs made in the field.

Reports will automatically be sent to you via our in-house Document Reporting system. This allows us to send you your results as quickly as possible. We also allow you to customize the distribution list to include any of the people from your team who should also get the results.
