Standard and Modified Proctor Compaction Tests By Testing Service Corporation

What types of Proctor testing do we offer?

TSC Offers two main types of proctor testing: Standard and Modified.

Standard Proctors are completed in adherance to ASTM D698 Standards as well as AASHTO T99 Specifications.

Modified Proctors are completed in adherance to ASTM D1557 Standards as well as AASHTO T180 Specifications.

What's the turnaround time for a Soil Proctor?

How quickly we can get a proctor tested has a number of factors to it including how fast we can get your soil sample. Although, most proctors are able to be completed in a week's time. Rush proctors may be able to be completed in as little as 3 days, but may incur additional cost.

What are Soil Proctors used for?

Soil proctors are used to gauge the ideal level of soil compaction based upon the Maximum Dry Density in coincidence with its corresponding Optimum Water Content, which are always outlined within our final reports. Often times, construction projects will have minimum specifications on a percentage basis in relation to the soil proctor in order to be considered acceptable.

These proctor values are then used by the workers on site to either make the soil drier or wetter, as it is compacted, in order to get as close to the ideal spec as possible.

Additionally, our field technicians, with the help of a Nuclear Density gauge, offer onsite observation and monitoring of soil compaction to provide assurance that these standards are being met as construction of the site progresses.
